    Community Sustainable Development Planning & Capacity Building


SEEK Phuket, Thailand   (May 2012 - November 2013)
Technical Consultant on Community Sustainability Indicator Report – provided expertise and facilitation of key stakeholder groups in Phuket to develop Phuket’s first Sustainability Indicator Report (26 core indicators based on the AtKisson Sustainability Compass), which was eventually endorsed by the Governor of Phuket, the Ministry of Health, and the Phuket Hotel Association. 

ECO-Asia / AECOM International Development. (AECOM)   (January – March 2012)
Environmental Governance & Community Engagement Specialist - provided technical support and team leadership in developing a community participation framework for Thailand Region 5 Environment Office (Nakorn Pathom, Thailand) with the aim to promote community participation and involvement to protect and restore the Tha Chin River basin in four key areas: (1) community awareness raising; (2) community and citizen monitoring; (3) community participation in policy formulation; and (4) eco-system restoration through community river cleanup initiatives.

USAID-USAEP: Thachin River Integrated Community Based Environment Management Project, Thailand   (May-October 2005)  

Technical Consultant – SA provided expert advice, training and planning support to community-based grassroots groups- ”We Love Thachin River” Clubs in four provinces of the Thachin River basin in developing public awareness and community development projects and activities based on community-based social marketing, communication and experiential environmental education.  This was part of USAID’s efforts to work with local stakeholders to improve the water quality and restore the ecology of the Thachin River system.

Singapore National Environmental Agency (NEA), Education and Partnership Department   (June - July 2006)
 
Technical Consultant on Strategy  Assessment -  SA conducted an organizational assessment of the NEA’s Education and Partnership Department’s 3-P strategy for public engagement, education & communication in relation to the Singapore Green Plan 2012. The department enacted most of the recommendations made for more effective strategy implementation and additional strategic interventions to develop increase efficiency of the department’s work.

University of New South Wales – Australia / Faculty of the Built Environment Community Outreach Programme   (November 2005)                   
Technical Consultant – SA provided consultation on the strategic planning framework for the Faculty of the Built Environment’s community outreach unit, FBEOutThere!, and facilitated strategic performance indicator workshop for the faculty advisor group and conducted an organisational strategic capacity assessment of one program of the community engagement unit (Sustainable Living Challenge).
