Organisation Sustainability Assessment
What defines a sustainable company, organization or community? And how do you know whether you are there are not, and/or how far you must go to get there? Through the use of the AtKisson 360-degree Sustainability Compass Assessment tool, we can help your company or organisation thoroughly evaluate a program, policy, investment opportunity, organization, or company to determine the extent to which it contributes to sustainability, and is sustainable given the current global risk and opportunities. We base our assessments on the AtKisson Sustainability Compass Assessment tool, to ensure that the organization is looking at sustainable development from a whole system perspective. We can also design and perform an assessment that is tailored to a company or organisation’s own specifications.

Through this assessment and evaluation, we give your organisation a clear picture of where you stand currently in relation to your environmental, economic, social and internal wellbeing sustainability situation. And we can provide the right advice as to how to create positive whole system change in the direction of sustainability. By measuring your sustainability goals and performance against our benchmarking framework, your company will better understand how your values and priorities are likely to stack up against those of your environmental stakeholders. As well, you will identify your company's strengths, gaps, areas of opportunity and potential new approaches to corporate environmental responsibility. This will lead to opportunities for increasing environmental stewardship and resource efficiency, improving your stakeholder relations and public image, and reducing the risk of corporate liability. CSR /Sustainability Indicator Development
There is a common saying in corporate sustainability circles these days that states, “if you can’t measure it, you can’t change it.” So, how sustainable is your company, organisation or community? Are you able to accurately measure your CSR programme’s effect on the company’s bottom line, and are those measures linked to company policy, operations, products and services? We can assist you with the selection, research and presentation of CSR and/or Sustainability metrics from beginning to end. As a long-standing Senior Associate of AtKisson Group, one of the world's most experienced consultancies in this field, we have helped to develop and put into practice an indicator framework and process that has become an international standard and model.

We have extensive experience in data development, analysis, and interpretation, in every key area of sustainability -- environment, economy, social and health/wellbeing issues. We are experts at framing a sustainability indicator selection process, which involves balancing the needs of technical rigor, generalist understanding, public participation, and popular communication. And, we can help you ensure that your indicators are linked to your action programs, so that what you measure helps you achieve what you envision to achieve. We will also assist you with how to manage this data for continuous monitoring and assessment that leads to proactive decision-making. (back)

Stakeholder Engagement
CSR and sustainable development will vary with the place, the context and the industry involved, and will change over time. The only way for a company to properly define its CSR and/or sustainability is through engagement and consultation with its stakeholders, both internal and external. Engaging your key stakeholders is the best way to get an “outside the box” view of your operations, and can also boost your credentials as a responsible organization/company. It is the interaction between the stakeholders and the company that should set the sustainability priorities for the company.

Our process helps you to first identify and prioritise your stakeholders using a structured evaluation methodology. We then consult with those stakeholders who you feel are important to listen to. We follow this up with an analysis and report to you evaluating and reviewing stakeholder concerns, issues and priorities. Our process ends with communications back to stakeholders which can often be seen as the first part of an ongoing dialogue. As a third-party facilitator, we can help you build trust among employees, suppliers, customers, and community members. (back)

CSR/Sustainability Planning
Planning is thinking about action in the long-term. The AtKisson Accelerator suite of tools offers you a comprehensive solution for CSR and/or sustainability planning. For cities, communities and organisations, we can help you develop new sustainability plans, or help you integrate sustainability thinking into your comprehensive planning efforts. For communities, companies and other large institutions, we can help you develop sustainability metrics, lay out realistic goals and timelines, identify places to make self-sustaining system change and how to make that change, and think through everything from logistics to cultural change. Using our proven tools and methods, we’ll create a strategic plan that aligns your core values with your financial bottom line. (back)

Preparation of Sustainability Reporting
True benefits of sustainability emerge when businesses report to the public on their initiatives to be good corporate citizens. Transparency about the sustainability of organizational activities is of interest to a diverse range of stakeholders, including business, labor, non-governmental organizations, investors, accountancy and others. We can assist your team in developing an engaging and accurate report of your organisation’s overall progress towards sustainability in accordance with the AtKisson Sustainability Compass, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and other key sector guidelines. Either model (or both) provides a credible framework for reporting on an organization’s economic, environmental, and social performance, which can be used by organizations of any size, sector, or location. Our report preparation approach and methodology is distinguished by its clarity, depth and engagement factor with key stakeholders and target readers of your report.(back)

Becoming a Compass School - A Whole School Approach to Sustainability Education
IN the shift to a more sustainable world, education is one of the most critical factors. But what matters most is process; i.e. “how we educate”, if we want education to contribute to the development of active global citizens who will practice sustainable lifestyles. Thus, the most effective sustainability education occurs in schools that promote and maintain sustainable practices through the participation of pupils in collaborative school cultures that promote sustainable practice in every aspect of the school’s operations, teaching, decision-making and relationships. This ‘whole school approach’ to sustainability education means working to make the educational institution a microcosm of the emerging sustainable society, rather than of the unsustainable society.

In this Intensive 5-day workshop, we use the AtKisson Sustainability Compass and other Accelerator tools in conjunction with a host of other tested frameworks and approaches to help teachers, educators, researchers and administrators to fully understand the ‘whole school approach’ concept, theory and practice. At the heart of this course is practical application of the materials so that participants can begin their journey towards being a sustainable school. We call these schools that use the AtKisson "Compass of Sustainability" as a framing or support tool in sustainability planning, operations, and curriculum, "Compass Schools". The Program makes available discounted educational licenses to the AtKisson "Accelerator" toolkit, offers discounted or subsidized training opportunities, and facilitates interaction among schools using the tools.
